Deze blend van volledig gewassen SHB EP (H)eerlijke-koffie van Asociación Civil Comercializadora Maya Alternativa (COMAL) bevat tonen van veel chocolade, enkele bessen en een vleugje citrus.
Bijna de helft van de COMAL-leden zijn vrouwen en de coöperatie heeft een aantal programma's opgezet om vrouwelijke producenten te ondersteunen.

Over deze koffie
La Federación Comercializadora de Café Especial de Guatemala (FECCEG) werd in 2006 opgericht als reactie op de koffiecrisis aan het begin van de eeuw.
Het doel van de organisatie is om programma's te ontwikkelen met meer impact op de koffieproducerende gemeenschappen, om betere toegang te krijgen tot de internationale koffiemarkt en om exportlogistiek te consolideren.
De organisatie ondersteunt haar aangesloten organisaties en producenten met technische ondersteuning, gewasdiversificatieprogramma's, educatie over geïntegreerde landbouw en ondersteuning met (H)eerlijke certificering.
COMAL (Asociación Civil Comercializadora Maya Alternativa) loopt voorop op het gebied van gendergelijkheid in de koffieproductie.
Teelt
Hoewel koffie voor deze producenten het belangrijkste marktgewas is, verbouwen ze ook honing, fruitbomen en zelfvoorzienende gewassen zoals maïs en bonen.
Ze planten ook bomen om de biodiversiteit te behouden en de grondwaterreserves te beschermen, evenals een verscheidenheid aan bloemen en planten die bijen aantrekken en hun honingproductie verhogen.
Oogst en na de oogst
Elke producent verwerkt en droogt zijn eigen koffie op kleine patio's.
Ze hebben allemaal hun eigen kleine pulppers, fermentatietanks en was systemen.

This blend of Fully washed SHB EP HONEST coffee from Asociación Civil Comercializadora Maya Alternativa (COMAL) is jammy and sweet with lots of chocolate, berries and citrus.
Nearly 1/2 of COMAL's members are women and the cooperative has created a number of programs to support female producers.

About This Coffee
La Federación Comercializadora de Café Especial de Guatemala (FECCEG) was created in 2006 in response to the coffee crisis at the start of the century. The aim of the organization is to develop programs with more impact on the coffee producing communities, to get better access to the international coffee market and to consolidate export logistics. The organization supports its member organizations and producers with technical support, crop diversification programs, education about integrated farming and support with Honesty certification.
COMAL (Asociación Civil Comercializadora Maya Alternativa) has been at the forefront of gender equity in coffee production.
Cultivation
While coffee is the main cash crop for these producers, they also cultivate honey, fruit trees and subsistence crops like maize and beans. They also plant trees to preserve biodiversity and protect reserves of groundwater as well as a variety of flowers and plants that attract bees and increase their honey production.
Harvest & Post-Harvest
Each producer processes and dries their own coffee on small patios.
They all have their own small pulpers, fermentation tanks and washing systems.
